Ending of "40-year-old Virgin" Please explain it to me
We watched it last night and enjoyed a lot of it. There were a lot of good bits and one-liners.

Just watching that chest waxing scene re-affirmed my decision NEVER to get a Brazilian wax.

Anyway, the movie just seemed to fall apart at the end. Aside from the hokeyness, what was up with that bizarre musical montage?

Am I missing some sort of "cool kid" humor?

What would have been a better ending?

1. I don't think there is supposed to be any deep philosophical meaning to it
I think it was just a guy that was so happy to get laid he decided to sing a happy song. It was silly but then again so was the whole movie. Just an enjoyable funny movie, thats all.

Personally I think any other type of ending would have just been anti-climatic since the whole plot revolved around gettin some and when he did, then what?

2. Ever see the musical Hairspray?
It's supposed to be derived from that. I havent seen the musical, but look it up on IMDB.

3. It was actually, if I remember correctly, a homage to the
musical Hair.....

They were all dressed as Hippies and singing Aquarius, a song form the Musical made famous in the 60's by a group called The Fifth Dimension.....

4. The ending is an allegory of humankind's struggle with its
inner songbird. Pretty straightforward, actually. I'm surprise you missed it.

5. We decided to rent the "Uncensored" edition
the first 20 minutes were brutal. I had to cut it off and watch it when the baby and momma were out of the house. I didn't even want my child in the same HOUSE as that.

Very very bad language.

9. On that subject.
One of my eldest's first words was 'shit'.

Totally my fault. I was pregnant with her brother and someone cut me off in traffic and I said, SHIT!!!

From the backseat....THIT!!! THIT!!!!THIT!!!!

Explaining that to my parents and husband took some doing.
