1. I don't get it. How can he possibly know that??

people out-live their diagnoses all the time. Even docs that refer to Hospice can never know for sure how much time somebody has left....

I'm confused by your post.

6. I'm so sorry, Greeby.

truth be told, we NEVER know exactly how much time any of us have left....Death is the greatest mystery of all. So we might as well live each day with as much Love and awareness as possible.

Perhaps this "death sentence" will be an opening to living life with even more fullness and grace.

My best good wishes to you both...

4. Enjoy the time you have.
Sorry. It's hard to take no matter how much warning you have. How old is he now?

8. Hugs...
to you. On 12/27/04, my mother's doctor in front of my husband and I told her she had a week to 10 days to live. She lived almost 2 years with acute leukemia. Prayers for you and your family.

9. damn, that's awful.
I'm so sorry, and sorry that you're going through so much pain, too.

I'm a little surprised that they'd be that blunt about a diagnosis. How can anyone be that certain? Perhaps he should ask for another opinion before deciding any course of action.

I understand the pain of knowing that your parent isn't going to live long (I'm there, right now, myself). Please know I'm here for you, if you need a shoulder.

11. Bet he'll outlive the doctor's prognosis.
When I was 44, the doctor told me I would live too long if I didn't stop smoking. Well, that was 23 years ago and I'm still smoking and still ticking.
