Vampyre candidate for governor arrested
Edited on Tue Jan-31-06 01:46 PM by no name no slogan
Uh oh, looks like bad news for the only MN governor candidate who pledges to impale terrorists

http://www.startribune.com/467/story/216549.html

MORA, Minn. -- A fringe candidate for governor who played up his satanic side — and pledged public impalement for terrorists — wound up behind bars today thanks to a sharp-eyed sheriff's dispatcher.

Jonathon Sharkey, 41, of Princeton, was arrested Monday night on two felony counts from Indiana, said Mike Smith, the Mille Lacs County jail administrator. One warrant was for escape, another for stalking.

...

Sheriff Brent Lindgren said Sharkey's warrants were discovered by a dispatcher making routine warrant queries. Lindgren said the dispatcher had seen news stories about Sharkey's campaign and recognized the name on the warrant — Rocky Flash — as a name Sharkey had used as a pro wrestler.

4. "Routine warrant queries"?
I call BS.
I used to dispatch. What really happened is that the dispatcher got bored, had nothing to do and started randomly entering names in the computer system.
You'd be surprised at how often that happens.

7. You are DEFINITELY in the running...
...for my sporadically-issued "worst pun of the day" award!

That was a bad one! Well done!

8. I wouldn't even go that far.
Like I said, I used to dispatch. You get bored late at night and you run names, whether it be for nosiness or just something to do. You look up old classmates, people in the paper, stupid names to see if anyone really has that name or not in your state(example: there was someone in MO who had the name Harry Sack, according to his drivers license).
Someone saw his name, said let's see where he lives and ran it. They lucked out that there was an NCIC hit on it. They were just being nosy and had to cover themselves by saying it was a random warrant query or else they could lose their operating license and certifications.

9. Yes, I know, I've done dispatch too, with NCIC access
but when some nutcase is running for Governor and his name is attached to anything 'random' I call BS.

13. I see your point.
The name itself is not random. They probably got it out of a newspaper or off the tv. But I don't think it was malicious in nature. I think it was some idiot who walked into the wrong thing. I wouldn't be surprised if IN had a backtrack on the warrant and the guy (or girl) had to come up w/ a damn good reason for running it.
