NEW YORK (AP) - It's still cool to say "cool." But hip, groovy or far out will just date you as somebody who is, well, not very cool.

Robert Thompson, a Syracuse University professor of popular culture, says cool should be a charter member of the slang hall of fame. He says cool keeps getting used generation after generation.

While cool is still hot, "chill" is awfully cold as slang goes. Other dated slang words include neat, phat, sweet, and copasetic.
