What are your irrational fears?
Mine is going to the dentist. I just spent two and a half hours living out my nightmare and have to go back in three weeks :scared:

24. I can imagine
I once had the pleasure (?!) of flying in a small plane in Colorado, the mountainous part.... mid flight several warning lights and buzzers went off. I don't know what the problem was, electrical I think, but we flew with no heat and my parents couldn't smoke and there was only gin in the bar. We made it home eventually, but everyone's nerves were a bit frayed. I was 10 I think.

29. I can relate.
It can be harrowing here. Our airport has a the ocean on one side and towering mountains on the other. Many days the cloud cover is 500 feet or less. I am scared shitless every time I get in a plane here.

3. I always check for snakes under the lampshade before I turn them on/off
It all stems from a cartoon I saw in grade 4.

12. Rikki Tikki Tavi
It was about a mongoose and his epic struggle against the king cobra who was engaged in a vendetta against his family.

The cobra wrapped himself around an urn in order to ambush the dad. Somehow that meant that snakes could be hiding under lampshades.

7. Paralysis, death, eternal loneliness
One's already a reality.

One will definitely become a reality some day.

One I'm in danger of becoming.

26. Yeah baby, me too
One's a reality, one will be. But the third I swear I will never let happen.

It ain't gonna happen to me and it ain't gonna happen to you either. There are people who love you - not always the people you expect.Sometimes you just have to look around yourself.

Khash.

30. bears
I've been hiking and backpacking for 35 years and I've always been afraid of bears. I'm on the east coast so all we really have are black bears that avoid people. I've never even seen one in the wild.

33. Tornadoes! I've been afraid of them since as long as I can remember.
Have had nightmares about them for as long as I've lived.

This USED to be an irrational fear, but now that I've so smartly moved into Tornado Alley I'm thinking those nightmares may have been premonitions instead. :scared: I've told all my friends, if I get killed in a tornado, put "I told you so" on my tombstone!

34. Ants!
Edited on Fri Jan-27-06 11:19 PM by fudge stripe cookays
Don't laugh.

I'd rather see a big crunchy, easily crushable roach than a bunch of tiny, nasty, biting ants.

Here in Texas, we have fire ants, which are bad enough, but when I was only around two, I fell into one of those huge gigantic nests of red ants (the ones that are almost fingernail sized).

I just remember screaming and crying and having these little thing CRAWLING all over me. I've had several similar encounters with fire ants, and have scars on my legs to prove it.

To this day, ants give me chills, and make me jumpy and freaked out.

Edited on Fri Jan-27-06 11:32 PM by kagehime
i live near the mountains and i have no fear of encountering either, but that's why those fears are irrational

i also have issues with flying

but never making a difference to anyone, dying alone and never making my dreams reality are my biggest fears
