(fwiw... I went for my Ph.D. in Russian lit... had to learn a second slavic language (aka, 2 years college-level). Did Polish. My first-year teacher rocked. Second-year prof... wow, with him, I learned how to discuss screwing in a lightbulb in every single tense you can imagine, but absolutely nothing useful.)

If it weren't for my 2 small kids, I'd be there right now. I've never seen such beautiful beaches (in the "state", not the city itself). Damn, now you have me reminiscing (sp6)....

Krakow bars... yes, I went to a few in the Stare Miasto, by the castle (I would have said it in Polish, but you've forgotten it... okay, really, I've forgotten it!). (wait... Wawel... does that mean anything?) Some dance club called "Under the castle" or something like that.

Did much more bar-hopping in Praha. In Krakow, I don't think we went to bars at all. Did the castle. Stayed in a hotel near the Stare Miasto. Did all the normal tourist stuff. Walked a ton. That's one think I love and miss about E. Europe. Here, walk 10 feet and an F150 will run you over.

You went to Pod Wawel, it's a decent old pub.

The Plante (the park that encircles the Stare Miasto) is absolutely beautiful in the Spring and Summer.

I also loved the pedestrian lifestyle. People talk about weight loss and fitness here...All you have to do is WALK to the store or bar.

Oh well.
