Poll question: Clear, cool water...
I drank a cup of cool water just now. I know that stuff will rust your pipes if you're not careful, but it tasted good for a change. Do you ever indulge in it? Inquiring minds want to know.

Cool, clear water!

Joni Mitchell did a really great version many years ago - had Willie Nelson singing harmonies. Killer!

12. Me too!
When I moved to the desert 15 yrs ago I lost my taste for sweet drinks. It's sooo dry here that
the sugar in soda just made me feel thirstier. We joke that iced tea should be the official beverage
of AZ because everyone here seems to drink it by the gallon.

6.  Mama never understood

What it`s like for a losing man
When her number one son goes bad
Playing cards with the devil`s hand

But daddy got real sick so quick
For wars I`ll never understand
I was the one that good with the fun
Took the money from the rich man`s land

Gimme some water
Cause I shot a man
On the Mexican border
Cool, cool water
Gimme some water
I need a little water

I'm gonna go drink about a quart and a half right now. ahhhhhhh!

30. I'm very fond of water
I'm very fond of water and I drink it noon and night,
Not Rechab's son or daugher Had therein more delight.

I breakfast on it daily,
And nectar itdoth seem,
When once I've mixed it gaily
With sugar and with cream.
But I forget to mention,
That in it first I see
Infused or in suspnension,
Good Mocha or Bohea.

I'm very fond of water,
I drink it noon and night
No mother's son or daughter.
Had therein more delight.

At lucheon, too, I drink it,
And strength it seems to bring;
When really good, I think it
A liquor for a King.
But I forget to mention,
'Tis best to be sincere,
I use and old invention
That makes it into Beer.

I'm very fond of water,
I drink it noon and night
No mother's son or daughter.
Had therein more delight.

I drink it, too, at dinner,
I quaff it full and free,
And find, as I'm a sinner,
It does not disagree.
But I forget to mention,
As thus I drink and dine,
To obviate distension
I join some Sherry Wine.

I'm very fond of water,
I drink it noon and night
No mother's son or daughter.
Had therein more delight.

And then, when dinner's over,
And business far awat,
I feel myself in clover,
And sip my eau sueree.
But I forget to mention,
To give the glass a smack,
I add, with due attention,
Glenlivet or Cognac.

I'm very fond of water,
I drink it noon and night
No mother's son or daughter.
Had therein more delight.

At last, when evening closes,
With something nice to eat,
The best of sleeping doses
In water still I meet.
But I forget to mention,
I think it not a sin,
To cheer the day's declension
By pouring in some gin:

I'm very fond of water,
It ever must delight
Each mother's son or daughter.
When qualified aright.

That said - I do actually drink lots of water. I always have a glass on my desk at work, which gets refilled several times during the day - and drink lots more in the evening at home.

33. Speaking of "Cool Water(s)",
you can download a copy here:

http://www.marymclaughlin.com/graphics/Cool%20Waters.mp3

On a PC with IE, right click on the above link and select "Save Target As".

Or you can go to the page and search for "Cool Waters":

http://www.marymclaughlin.com/recordings.html

It's (just) a good song, although probably not to everyone's taste. (Quoting: "Mary McLaughlin is a singer/songwriter who is steeped in the Gaelic song tradition of her native Ireland.")

And it's free to download.

40. I like many kinds of music...
that is, when I am in the right state(s) of mind.

Sometimes I can put myself in the right state of mind for this or that -- sometimes I must wait for the right state of mind to come of itself -- and sometimes I must wait for the moment that the thing itself dictates.

...

Oh, and it's meant be read as: "Timing can be everything." -- Sometimes you can even force the timing.

But always you should at least think about it. Because you can have everything else right -- and still fail because of bad timing.

34. Beware of drinking too much...
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/10/AR2005081001460.html

District Officer Dies After Bike Ride

A highly honored 25-year-old D.C. police officer died yesterday after he apparently drank too much water Tuesday while training to use a bicycle on patrol, police officials said.

Doctors believe that hyponatremia, a sodium imbalance caused by drinking excessive amounts of fluid, most likely caused or contributed to the death of Officer James C. McBride, police officials said. McBride consumed as much as three gallons of water during and after the 12-mile training ride Tuesday morning, police said.

~snip~

This friendly warning brought to you by a woman with too much shit in her head. Lousy short term memory but I can recall stuff like this? :banghead:

I ordered mine online here. They're a bit pricey, but one filter lasts for 160 refills for untreated water and 640 refills for treated water (e.g., tap water). So really, it's well worth the price.
