NEW YORK - Reese Witherspoon's gown wasn't vintage -- though it had been worn by another actress three years ago. Photos published this week showed the Golden Globe winner wearing the same glittery Chanel cocktail dress that Kirsten Dunst had worn to the awards in 2003.

Witherspoon, the best actress in a musical or comedy winner for "Walk the Line," was seen asking Chanel President Maureen Chiquet at an after-party why she wasn't told the gown already had a public outing, Women's Wear Daily reported.

Gretchen Fenton, publicist for Chanel, told The Associated Press the fashion house was "unaware" that Dunst, star of the "Spider-Man" movies, had worn the dress. The fashion house apologized for "the oversight."

"We are honored that Reese chose to wear Chanel and thought she looked beautiful," the company said in a statement. "We congratulate her on her well-deserved win."
Witherspoon believed the gown -- in a champagne color with metallic trim on the bust -- was vintage, her publicist, Nanci Ryder, was reported as telling the New York Post in Wednesday's editions.

Editing note: Oops! Reese wore a hand-me-down! Not too "frivolous" for me, folks...
P.S. This photo is showing her at last year's Oscars. She could have worn this dress again and I wouldn't have minded.

(like in the Peanut Butter Cups) Witherspoon. Not sure if she's related to Jimmy.

She's adorable, in any dress, at any time.

Just posted this in LBN to lighten the mood on a difficult day.

7. Actually, the MSM have ignored it today. It's probably not going to be
a tempest in a teapot. Just funny, that's all.

People are starving all over the world, people are dying in Iraq, people are without housing in our southern states due to hurricanes, Osama has reignited fear in our hearts, Alito is on his way (???) to confirmation.

What else is someone to do? Check ENTERTAINMENT on Comcast.net. I had to do something!!!!

In peace,

Radio_Lady

Will Reese ever get over the embarrassment? Will her career recover? Can she face her family and fans again?

I am so glad I don't have such significant issues in my life. I simply couldn't handle the stress.

13. I like Reese Witherspoon...
And I like the fact that she thought it was a vintage gown. It tells me she doesn't think used clothes aren't good enough for her.

what a horrifying faux pas for chanel to make.

there weren't any current chanel dresses that she could have worn?

why were they doing the archival thing to begin with?

long live couture!
