Yesterday afternoon I went to the Gerald R. Ford Museum in Grand Rapids, MI, where they had an ORIGINAL copy (one of 25 known to have existed) of the Declaration of Independence. They had a lot of things about freedom, independence, democracy, and all that stuff. Kids could actually 'vote' on such issues as lowering the voting age, cleaning up the environment, and school uniforms. Unfortunately, they used touch-screen voting! BevHarris, are you reading this? ;-)
They also had exhibits about the 1970's, Jerry's early life and career, Watergate, the Bicentennial, the 1976 Election, Betty, and much more. The Senate adopted a resolution when Betty went to the hospital for surgery in 1975, I think it was. All of the Senators signed it; I saw the signatures of Ted Kennedy, Daniel Inouye, Robert C. Byrd, and Ted Stevens.
Last night we went to a Picnic Pops concert for the Grand Rapids Symphony. It was an outdoor event at a local ski area. They had songs like Carmen, the Romeo and Juliet theme, and other romantic songs. It was a nice evening.
Tomorrow I go on my business trip to Fort Wayne. Ah, business trips. Why do I have to take them? Well, maybe it will be worth it. Besides, I can have some fun in Fort Wayne, right? But the thing is, I doubt I’ll be able to go online, so I will likely have to say goodbye for a week. Unless, of course, I find a library or something.
I'll let you know before I go tomorrow morning.
Oh well. So... ask me anything.
