Cool pix. BTW, have you ever been to Mavericks up in the SF bay area? They have those kick-ass wave competitions :hi: I live outside of Santa Cruz, where surfing is a lifestyle.... :hi:

3. I used to surf Mavericks regularly
kayaked it too...best waves on the mainland US

11. There it isn't..those waves pack a wallop
but with the new kayaks with fancy schmancy foot rudders, anyone with a bit of upper body strength can do it

VERY mellow there....and you're right, it's good to have upper body strength.

4. I was in Santa Cruz last month and was amazed at how big the waves were.

14. Bigger waves in Santa Cruz, hands down!
Theres a secluded area in La Jolla called Tourmaline that has good size waves. Its hard to get to it though.

7. Actually next to Mavericks
next biggest waves are at the Wedge in Newport...mid winter sees 16 footers
