Check out my new homepage - if you like ponies and puppies
Edited on Mon Jan-16-06 07:33 PM by SkipNewarkDE
Hey DUers:

I just updated my homepage, and wanted to do a bit of self-promotion. I just re-designed the thing using Apple's new iLife '06 iWeb application. Take a look, and let me know what you think. It contains bio information, pictures of me, my horses and my pups. There is also a link to my political blog.

Skip's Homepage

Please note that there are a lot of videos up there, that require high-speed internet to view, as well as the QuickTime plug-in for your browser. There are directions for getting that plug-in on my site.

Also be sure to try the slideshow feature. When you go to a photo page, there is a button for slideshow. Click it, and the photos will be shown to you in a virtual slideshow.

Thanks for your feedback!

1. Ponies and puppies!
Your site looks good... it loaded slow for me, but I think that problem is on my end... everything is loading slow.

I am jealous! I wish I still had a horse. I saw that you trained with a show jumping trainer, is that what you do primarily? Show jumping I mean? I rode on the 'A' circuit as a junior jumper and miss it horribly. I don't think I'd go back to jumpers now, but my current pie in the sky fantasy is a nice semi-green warmblood and a good dressage trainer. Man oh man do I want a horse. :)

Thanks for sharing

4. Ride the hunters...
... requires a bit more finesse than jumpers, I think.

Might get into some eventing this spring, depending on how my gelding goes.

I bred my thoroughbred mare to Consul, a famous Dutch Warmblood stallion, and got that lovely little filly. I am hoping she turns out to be a heck of a jumper. She is already pretty huge... she is larger than two yearlings on our farm. She's a pretty mover, so I may have a nice eventer here in a few years. It just takes so long for warmbloods to mature.

7. Not more finesse, just different for hunters than for jumpers
Hunters are definitely a possibility, but I really want to learn more dressage. Of course for either to happen a big bag of money will have to fall from the sky. :D

Good luck with your filly, it does take a while for the warmbloods (why I said I wanted a semi-green one :) )

Anyway... your farm and animals are lovely, as is your site. I wish you all the best.

2. It's a beautiful site.
You did a wonderful job. I have been riding as far back as I can remember. Horses are my passion as well. Right now, my kids are my priority, but I hope to get back to horses in the future. I would love to pursue Therapeutic Horseback riding. I am a special ed teacher, right now am home with my three boys.
Training with Greg Best :wow: am I jealous!

3. Therapeutic Riding
I am actually going to be volunteering for a therapeutic riding program in the spring. Looking forward to it.
