oral Vancocin aka Vancomycin.

This is insane. My hubby has to call HR to find out why the card expired on 12/31/05 and we didnt get any new cards yet. Thank god for credit cards right now. I called the drug manuf. and he said since my health ins. paid 300 of it, I am ineligible for assistance.

This sucks :( I have to pay it again 2 more times and pray that I dont need it after.

This is just pure insanity. The full price of the med is 1450. I tried calling the ins co today and they're closed for MLK day.

4. Prediction:

Pharmacies and drug companies will expand into the real estate field after aquiring homes from foreclosure on past due prescriptions.

Thanks again to BFEE and the Compassionate Conservatives.

:eyes:

Damn I wish the next three years would hurry on by.

What on Earth do they put in this medication for it to cost that much?

10. I have no idea..
its not a commonly prescribed drug - used only for cases of c-difficile. So not many people have this and therefore they probably feel they need to jack it up for the lack of use. :(

8. holy moly
do you get reimbursed for this once they send new cards? shit! I hope so.

I swear, though, I feel like hospitals and such might as well just go ahead and ask for a valid credit card before they send you to triage...if you can't pay, then no treatment for you! Just go off somewhere and die.

not that I'm personally bitter from having to personally pay tens of thousands of dollars for emergency medical treatment or anything....

9. The drug store told me to keep the bag and receipt..
once I get a new card (IF I do), they'll take off the charge and I'll only pay my copay. Hubby wont hear anything from HR until 2-3 because they're doing payroll today.

I wonder if I can get it filled in Canada. My aunt lives up there and its only 6 hrs away. I can fly up there and its only 45 min. I cant afford 2 more months of this.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with the hospital emergency room... I always thought they were supposed to help you regardless of the situation. Not just let someone who cant pay $20,000 for life saving treatment go off and die. Thats just wrong. Flat out wrong. If I were to be a doc, I wouldnt push someone away that needed my help - I'd do whatever I damn well could. I would go to med school, but I cant afford it. :(

11. re the ER...

that didn't actually happen...they are required by law to treat you. I just meant that I feel like they might as well just go ahead and charge at the door or something.

I will probably be in debt forever on account of me and/or significant others not having adequate health insurance. But what the hell, at least I'm still alive.

If we don't get the repubs the hell out of office though, it actually wouldn't shock me if they tried to pass some kind of "health care reform" that amounted to just telling the poor and uninsured that they can just go die for all anybody cares....

at any rate, good luck with your situation! Don't take any guff from these swine.
