Peanut’s big day — a party fit for a ... cat
By Michelle James
REGISTER-HERALD REPORTER
“He’s been running and dancing through here all day,” John Fanary said. “He knows it’s his big party day.”
Peanut, the Sophia town cat who returned home last weekend after vanishing Oct. 30, was not around for Christmas, but he definitely made up for it Saturday at his official “welcome home” celebration.
Snow and slick roads did not deter well-wishers from dropping by the Stagecoach Salon to visit the lovable feline who returned home Jan. 7 after wandering into the Fayetteville yard of James Pence, who was put in contact with Fanary and returned Peanut to him.
Although Fanary, who co-owns Stagecoach with Rocky Lohmann, said he was not sure if anyone would be able to make the welcome home celebration due to the weather, a steady stream of clients and friends stopped in to see the now-famous cat.
