I bought a regular old carton of extra large organic eggs at the grocery this week. I have cracked 6 out of the dozen so far, and every single egg has had two yolks. Isn't that weird? I have occasionally seen double yolks, but every egg in the same carton? Should I be very afraid? :scared:

2. What's weird is that you got them for a normal price.
Back in the day, it could happen occasionally, but in recent years they have separated out such eggs and sold them for higher prices ...

3. Double yoks used to be common, but modern "eggeries"
find them before they get packaged for the general public.. Organic double yolks are not that uncommon.. Enjoy them:) My grandmother would fry them for us kids and after they cooked, she would use a crumble of sausage and make eyes on them :)

4. Not necessarily...we have a chicken, and out of about 500 eggs
she's laid over the last couple of years, exactly ONE has had a double yolk. Making me doubt that it has anything to do with organic, free-range or whatever. Maybe it has to do with the breed of chicken? Our is a Rhode Island Red. Redstone

6. I think it IS more common in some breeds of chicken
and of course if you knew which ones in your yard were the doubles..They never ended up as Sunday dinner:evilgrin:
