i used to be a fancy pants

and could have conversations with people about wines, french breads, cheeses, and import beers with people. among other things. i remember comparing gazpacho recipes with another human being over an elaborate dish i had prepared.

i never found a shortage of people who wanted to be more important than they were, who wanted their lives to be more interesting than they were: including me.

but nowadays, i find an elegance in bologna and cotto salami. transcendence in yellow american cheese slices. euphoria in cheap beer.
