2. I'd put Sabotage at #4, behind Vol 4., Master of Reality and SBS.

Still, "Symptom of the Universe" is a killer song.

18. Here's how I'd rank them:
And this is coming from a 2-time veteran of Ozzfest:

Sabotage
Master Of Reality
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Paranoid
Volume 4
Black Sabbath
Never Say Die
Technical Ecstasy

Yeah, but does it have the keyboard stylings of Rick Wakeman?
I thought so.

Oh, wait...ok, I guess that would make "Master of Reality" better, wouldn't it?

19. Nuh-uh. Too many dull interludes, not enough riffage.
I've always thought "Master of Reality" was one of their duds.

My faves were (in order:)

Vol. 4
Heaven and Hell (fuckin' Dio, motherfuckers)
Black Sabbath
Paranoid
Sabotage
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Technical Ecstacy
Master of Reality
....and then pretty much everything else is filler.

26. Master of Reality, fuckers.
That's the best Black Sabbath record.

And who the fuck considers any band without Ozzy Osbourne to be Black Sabbath? Ronnie Jemes Dio is lame.

7. I'm torn
Between Masters of Reality and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath as my favorite Black Sabbath album . . .

Then again I also liked Heaven and Hell with Dio (I think that was 70's . . or was that early 80's)

24. You mean Dehumanizer?
That was the third DIO album, from 1992 with the song "Time Machine" on it.

And it was a great album. The only album worthy of the "Black Sabbath" name between 1983 and 1997.

13. I don't know if i would call it my #1.
But it is top 10 of the 70's for me. #1 for me would be High Voltage or Power Rage. What can i say though i'm a huge old AC/Dc mark

Old AC/Dc is simple ragged and rough, crass, and crude but it touches me down deep somewhere. :headbang:

16. Is this sarcastic? No one is willing to nominate "Paranoid"?
Starts off with "War Pigs" (timely as ever in my humble opinion), followed by the title track...inlcudes "Iron Man", and who can forget "Electric Funeral" and "Rat Salad"...

33. Those are good choices...
I have always had this fantasy about being able to remix "Berlin"
I would strip away a lot of Bob Ezrin's patented bells and whistles and million other sound effects. The record contains some of Reed's most brilliant songs. They would certainly stand without Ezrin's heavy hand.

44. I go back and forth
On Ezrin's production; on "Lady Day", it's just right; on "Sad Song" it's so over the top (especially at the end)to be parody. Even w/ it, I still think it's one of the 20 best albums ever made..

It's not a bad album though. I bought it when I was a young lad. It's OK.

Best album of the 70's? I dunno. Today I feel like it's Iggy's 'The Idiot'.

quite possibly my favorite album with Ozzy on it (the only competition would be Tribute--the Randy Rhoads live album)

It's weird though, things which are less talked about generaly become my personal favorites, maybe it's the work you have to put into getting to them which makes them connect with you...

My personal favorite album from the 70s would have to be

and yes, I am well aware that NOBODY here will agree with me, but there you have it. I don't know who originated the quote, but I've heard it put thusly: "Sabbath was heavy, but Priest was metal."

The thing with Sabbath albums is there is always the point where you could tell they ran out of ideas and were just throwing shit together. I occasionally like filler tunes but Sabbra Cadabra and Who Are You are clearly time killers aimed at balancing the length of sides 1 and 2.

What the hell was up with the breakdown section of Sabbra Cadabra anyways?
