Resume advice please! Should I use my full name, or nickname
at the top of the resume? I mean, Joseph or Joe? I go by Joe--no one has ever called me Joseph. Just wondering how formal I should be. Thanks!

2. Use Joseph
Your (hopefully) future employers don't know you...you're introducing yourself to them for the first time with your resume.

4. That's very true...
...I've always used Joseph, and I'm in an updating sort of way today, and was wondering about the name thing.

What's new anyway?

6. What you could do...
is again, hopefully, WHEN you get that job, tell everyone "just call me Joe. Everybody does".

Good luck! :-)

5. Absolutely. No nicknames or diminutives.
At the interview you can introduce yourself as "Joe".

10. As formal as possible.
You want to make sure that your name matches exactly to the name on your Social Security card. Funny, as much as the Repugs hate Social Security, they haven't quit using our numbers to identify us in any situation yet. I imagine there is a thick file or an entire computer hard drive somewhere with my social security number as the drive volume name full of just the bad shit I have said about them.

11. Yeah, if they get rid of social security, how can the NSA track
and spy on us?

13. They need that number to identify us.
You know, calling us by name and all would be too personal and humane. They have to call us by numbers so we don't look like people to them. In their minds, it keeps us on the subhuman level, see? Okay, yeah, it's pretty out there, but it IS how the government usually contacts us, isn't it?

14. Be formal.
and whatever you do, use both upper case AND lower case letters. Don't do your resume in all caps. Not good.

;)
