I have admired ancient Greece more than any culture, for its love of both physical beauty and the mind. The Greeks admired harmony, balance, and moderation in all things and were in my opinion the most civilized people that ever lived, although they did have their faults. As far as civilization is concerned, I think it's been largely downhill ever since.
