Well I went to court today for my speeding violation last year.
I was going 5 miles over the limit, on a street I had never driven on, and the speed limit sign was behind a tree trimming truck.
So I have to pay $500 that I don't have. Or I can appeal the decision and pay $200 I don't have so I can go back to court and be told that I have to pay $500 I don't have.
Apparently one is supposed to know the speed in an area one has never driven in before. According to the judge I was in a residential area which in this area is always 25, but every adjacent street to the one I was on has schools and the speed is 30, while the street I was on has multiple strip malls and other businesses and is 25.
I wish I could prove that the reason I was stopped in the first place was my DU bumper sticker.
Oh well. These things happen I suppose. I am just glad the guy who violated his DUI by going 40 miles over in a school zone got off because his lawyer found a loophole and the college kid who was doing 90 in a 30 got off because he subpoenaed the cop and he never showed up. And the guy who ran a red light but said the cop treated him badly because he was middle eastern. But I old the ttruth and obeyed the law and got puniished severely.
Go Justice!
