What can you tell me about Ventura County, CA?
Good place to live? I hear it runs on the conservative side.

1. The days are longer
and the nights are stonger than moonshine.

8. I live in blue L.A. County
Edited on Tue Jan-03-06 02:46 PM by ZombyWoof
So all I know about Ventura it is that is as freeperish as Orange County, and Reagan's library is in Simi Valley, in the middle of the county. They even have a Ronald Reagan Highway. :puke: Must be all right turns, and you forget where you were!

It IS scenically beautiful, bordering the Santa Monica mountains and the ocean, and there are some good Dems there. :-)

9. it has Ojai in it....
which is where I grew up. Ojai is a very special and sacred valley, about 17 miles inland from Ventura. It's absolutely gorgeous there, with lots of orange groves. In the 1930's it was used as the mythical locale of Shangrila, in the filming of "Lost Horizons".

I haven't lived there since '82, but my dad still does, so I still have a connection there. It's beautiful, but these days, a very expensive place to live, real estate-wise.

:hi:

10. White. Republican. All new houses, HOT. HOT. HOT. Like too hot, and
unpleasant. No culchuh, long drives to LA in nasty traffic. Everything is shiny new plastic and all the garages have massive plastic toxic houses attached to them.

All the women have big hair, big asses and plastic finger nails.

There is however, ONE shining feature to Ventura County....

The Camarillo Outlet Mall (Cue angels singing in harmonious voices and the sun rising at the same time over heaven and the shopping mecca.)

Ralph Lauren. Banana Republic. Ann Taylor. BARNEYS NEW YORK. CALVIN KLEIN. Gap. Jones New York. Kenneth Cole. SAKS FIFTH AVENUE.

**shudder**

11. Sounds promising
Not. It looks really expensive. Are there any friendly little pockets in the county?

A recruiter called with a gig in that county. I don't set much store by slick-talking recruiters, but I thought I'd do my homework just in case I get past a phone interview.

12. Well, there are communites like Pine Mountain Club that are fairly small
and isolated. Frasier Park is okay. Still rather redneck and conservative, but pleasant. It depends on where the location is of the job and how much it pays.

It's expensive in a relative manner. Your salary should kick some butt.

13. It's right on the ocean
and close enough to LA that you can get down there for real culture.
