1. Pouring like a MOFO
in Redding.

Been pouring like a MOFO all day.

If we didn't get at least 3 inches, I'd be surprised.

I didn't know you lived in Marin.

5. Sprinkling right now
Rained a bit this afternoon.

The big stuff'll probably hit in an hour or so.

KTVU news said there were flood warnings around Sebastopol and Guerneville.

26. Hey there dearest Peggy!
Gosh--it hasn't rained on the Rose Parade in quite a few years, has it? That route in Pasadena isn't a lot of fun with such weather. I understand many sleep on the sidewalk overnight in preparation of watching the parade.

20. Pouring in Chico, Roofs failing all over town
People calling me and asking me what I'm going to do about it. Uh, folks......Roofers do not work on Friday nights in the rain. If your living room is leaking now it's leaking till morning.

I'm reading "Fourty Signs of Rain" about climate change. Things do not bode well. Tropical storm Zeta just announced.

21. Really?????
:scared:

We live in the flood plain in Redding, and if there's a big release from Shasta, we're sitting ducks.

Been humming "when the levee breaks" all day.

How many inches in Chico???

25. Can't find a Rainfall total anywhere
But the creeks were high at 2pm and it's poured since. Paradise is getting almost an inch an hour. I have 5 roofs leaking that I know about. Roofers won't even talk to me and I have hundreds of units to take care of. Too busy.

27. The national weather service website
You enter a zipcode and on the sidebar there's a link for precipitation and you can download a map.

Hope that helps!

So you're in Chico? Is there anyone down there to run against Wally?

but it's really a matter of hoping Wally dies after the ballots are printed and before the election. The surrounding areas are solidly Repuke/Corporate welfare types.

Tell me about it; I live in Redding which is one of the "surrounding areas." :eyes:

But if we don't field a viable candidate it's a nonstarter.

Fer cryin' out loud, Wally's one of the two Mormons outside of Utah. We're on his love letter list, too. :eyes:

31. Jus slowed down in Contra Costa
after hours of heavy, wind driven rain.

From the NWS most recent update:

"BY 2 AM THIS MORNING...MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN HAD DEVELOPED ACROSS
MUCH OF THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA AND THE SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS.
RAINFALL RATES OF ONE QUARTER TO ONE HALF INCH PER HOUR WERE COMMON
ACROSS MOST OF THESE AREAS...WITH LOCALLY HEAVIER AMOUNTS IN THE
HIGHER TERRAIN. SO FAR...COASTAL PORTIONS OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTY HAVE
MAINLY JUST RECEIVED LIGHT RAIN WITH OCCASIONAL PERIODS OF MODERATE
RAIN. HOWEVER...HEAVIER RAIN IS JUST OFFSHORE AND WILL BECOME
WIDESPREAD ACROSS SANTA CRUZ COUNTY BY 4 AM THIS MORNING. RAIN IS
ALSO EXPECTED TO BECOME HEAVIER IN THE SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS AS THE
MORNING PROGRESSES.

LOCAL AUTHORITIES HAVE REPORTED THAT NEARLY ALL SMALL CREEKS AND
STREAMS IN SONOMA COUNTY HAVE OVERFLOWED THEIR BANKS. NUMEROUS
ROADWAYS ARE IMPASSABLE DUE TO FLOODING IN THE NORTH BAY. THE
SOUTHBOUND LANES OF HIGHWAY 101 ARE CLOSED AT SAN ANTONIO ROAD NEAR
NOVATO DUE TO ROADWAY FLOODING. IN ADDITION...NUMEROUS REPORTS OF
ROADWAY FLOODING ARE COMING IN FROM THE CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO...SAN
MATEO COUNTY...AND CONTRA COSTA COUNTY. MINOR ROCKSLIDES HAVE ALSO
BEEN REPORTED ON MANY AREA ROADWAYS.

MORE SIGNIFICANT MUDSLIDES MAY OCCUR...ESPECIALLY IN TYPICALLY
VULNERABLE AREAS SUCH AS HIGHWAYS 1 AND 101. ..AS THE HEAVY RAIN
CONTINUES TO FALL ON SATURATED SOIL THIS MORNING."

we've gotten over 4inches since about 10pm last night, with wind gusts up to 40mph. It was torrential earlier, but it's only lightly sprinkling as I type these words. There's more on the way....

36. Petaluma here
It was raining cats and dogs when I took the dog out for a walk this morning at 5:30. There were so many animals scattered across the yard she could barely find a place to go. But she did, and made quick work of it. It's about 12:20PM now and I've actually seen patches of blue sky.

The pond on the golf course directly behind our house filled to capacity, but there's a culvert for any excess water to flow into, so we don't have any problem with flooding.

So far, so good here. But I'm tired of it raining everyday. I want to get the kids back in school
so I can get back onto the golf course.

Well, Happy New Year everyone.

As I said, I live in the flatlands and we just call it slow drainage. Nothing a good pair of Wellington boots can't overcome unless you accidently walk into a hidden irrigation ditch.

i took I-80 from sactown to the city today and was in the MOTHER OF ALL TRAFFIC JAMS. it took FOUR FREAKIN HOURS to go the distance that normally takes 1.5 hours because I-80 was closed in sections around Fairfield because of mudslides/flooding. the only good thing is that it had stopped raining.

never again.
