I don't mean to break the medical advice or bodily function rules, but...
HELP! Don't worry, I'm at mom's house and under her watchful eye so I'm not going to die or anything, but ever since waking up to a technicolor yawn and horrible squirts in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, I've been unable to make less than ten trips (a very low estimate) to the toilet each day. Thank God the vomiting has not returned, but generally I swing between feeling slightly ok to a bit punk and then totally awful. I'm guessing this is Flu or something similar. Plenty of rest and sleep is good, but I need something to make me use the toilet less. I tried Kaopectate then Immodium, neither worked. Anyone know of some good medicines to fight off the runs?

4. Nothing but clear liquids for 24 hours
(Jello, Kool-Aid, Soda pop, sweetened tea) No meat or dairy. Gradually add Rice, bananas, applesauce, dry toast. Keep this up until your tummy settles down. Add meat and dairy(except for cheese) last.

5. there is a strange bacterial thing going around
that screws with the intestines. ugly.

I am not a doctor, but when confronted with this, I do three things: first, drink tons of water, sometimes you just have to deal with it, and if you get dehydrated, it will actually be worse. Eat applesauce, it has some good sugars and fiber to help balance you out. eat lowfat yogurt (fats are hard to digest) with live acidopholis, helps get some good bacteria back in the system.

6. lots of liquids while your body clears itself out. NOT the flu, by the way
Pet peeve of mine is confusing the flu with the runs. Yes, there are some viruses which cause diarrhea, but the flu is a respiratory thing. First (usually) you feel like crap, very sensitive, achy, fever. Then it turns into a coughing thing, respiratory symptoms. If you don't cough for wks, it's not the flu. Listen for people going hack hack hack, many of them will say "oh it's just bronchitit" which it may be but it usually originates as the flu (influenza). pet peeve rant off.

Gee, that sounds like the shits. Drink lots of liquids, rest and let your body clear itself out. After things slow down, and you are able to keep liquids down for 24 hours, go for the BRAT diet to help slow things down. Bananas, rice (white), applesause and tea or toast in small quantities every hour or so. This will help slow things down once your body has finished clearing out whatever it is that it wants to get out of it. Good luck.

7. Lemme see here
Coughing last week quite badly, especially on Christmas eve, I was achey before that and a bit dazed, but I figured that was just the normal end of busting my ass for the semester thing. 2 days after Xmas, vomiting and the runs since then. I really don't see how this wouldn't fit your description of a flu.

8. It is the cough that goes on for 3 weeks that is the defining sign of infl
intestinal stuff usually is an intestinal virus, commonly called a "flu", but not the influenza flu that we can get shots for, or like bird flu which is an influenza. Sounds like something got you bad. How did you end up doing last semester? Sounds like you could use a bit of a break.
