Is there a fast way to thaw a big turkey?
Edited on Fri Dec-30-05 05:42 PM by Ariana Celeste
:dunce:

I'm sure there isn't, but I hate the bath tub method I'm using. I don't have 5 days to thaw it in the fridge so I have it in the tub in cold water that I am continuously changing.

(sigh)

1. Is the turkey still wrapped in plastic?
Remove the plastic and thaw it in salt water.

4. Should be running water

I had to use that method the first year I cooked Thanksgiving dinner.

My joke was "I've had plenty of turkeys in my shower, but this was the first in my bath"

good luck!

8. It will be great.
Secret to a tender, moist turkey - cook breast side down with an apple or onion in the cavity and a stick of butter.

Brown & bags are also wonderful little inventions!

Enjoy the visit and the meal - remember to breath and not stress yourself out. They are mere mortals.

11. Thanks
we usually use a lot of butter and half an apple in the cavity. Baste every 20 minutes.
I love turkey!

I'll have some mike's hard lemonade to help soothe me whilst I handle the visit. Mere mortals, I know, but sometimes it doesn't seem that way! Lol. I'm new to this!

7. I'm thinking of something involving acetylene.
Can you not fit it in your sink, and leave tepid water running over it?

9. The pungent, garlicky aroma of acetylene will make your day festive
And really, the shit does smell very much like a truckload of garlic overturned in front of your house.

I'm going to assume that parboiling the turkey is out of the question.

10. No it wont fit in the sink
the instructions on the turkey said, thaw in fridge for a few days, or thaw in cold water, changing the water every 30 minutes
so thats what im doing (sigh)

12. Wink, and wiggle your snood around a little.

That should heat things right up.
