10 reasons why gay marriage should be illegal
10 reasons why gay marriage should be illegal

1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britney Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.

7. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.

9. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

3. I wish I could plaster my hometown with this one.

I'd love to be able to discreetly leave copies of it all over the place. People watch too closely around here though. I need pointers. How would you do it if you lived in a small town but wanted to get this message out there to people?

10. It fits perfectly on one piece of paper too.
I am also looking for a way to get it to the cafeteria at school where they constantly leave religious flyers and sometimes political flyers.

7. Just go around as though it were some kind of flyer for a store...
Putting it under windsheild wipers of parked cars and such.

9. Guerilla placard campaign
Take each of the 10 items, print them in relatively large type, on sheet of 11x17 paper. Cut between each line item so that you end up with 10 strips, each strip having one of the messages. Staple them on street signs, poster boards, etc. Tape them to parking meters, fire hydrants, and signs. Make sure you include the URL on all of them.

When heavily surveilled, you need to be able to stop and drop rapidly. Small sheets of paper take either two quick staples or a quick tape. Plus, most people won't bother reading all ten and are daunted by a page full of text.

19. Yes and some of it seems satiric
which I'm guessing is how it's meant to be taken but there are still some people in this country that think being gay is unnatural, etc....and that's why I think it's bullshit.

21. I can see where you get that.
My hackles automatically rise when I see the "homosexuality is unnatural" steaming pile of horseshit. But I read this and I picked up on the satire.

But I do understand where you're coming from, guy. :-)

22. Thank you for your insight.
I do understand the satire (I didn't at first :silly:) but it still bothers me.
