Last night I was out for a walk, saw a plane flying overhead and thought something along the lines of, wouldn't it be cool if there was a place on the web to see where all the planes were at any given moment. Guess what I just found? I swear it's like the interwebs read my mind!!!

the whole thing with monkey boy monitoring people, I wouldn't be surprised if sites like this on is monitored rather closely.

if we have this kind of capability out here on our desktops, can you imagine what they must have on the computers in the NSA offices? and I mean, surely those folks must get bored at their desks sometimes as well, no?

7. This one doesn't scare me so much.

It's all completely public information based on flight plans filed with the FAA and air traffic control information. You can get most of the same information, though not as efficiently, just by listening to an aviation-band radio. The FAA databases showing who owns an airplane (by tail number) are also public.

If you fly VFR without a flight plan, nobody knows where you are.

6. Oh My God, you can see the patterns

In the daily snapshots, you can see the planes taking off in the east and heading west, then in late afternoon you can see the planes starting to head to Europe, becoming a stream.

This is fascinating, work is so much more fulfilling now.
