Horror fans.....anyone seen Hostel yet?
I know it's not out yet but I've heard there have been a lot of screenings. Just curious as to any opinions from people who've seen it. I loved Eli Roth's first movie, Cabin Fever. I thought it was everything that was great about typical horror movies but all combined and refined. And the reviews on this one from screenings have been good.

The problem is that the primary focus of the movie seems to be on torture type horror and as strange as this sounds from a horror fan, that is the one area that I'm squeamish on. I can deal with the blood and the gore and all the other stuff that tends to be more cartoonish in horror movies. But prolonged torture or cruelty really disturbs me so I'm thinking I won't enjoy this at all. I know that's an odd line to draw in the sand especially for a horror buff but nonetheless it's there and I'm wondering if anyone's seen this.

1. This will be a horrible, exploitative film. an R rated film aimed at kids.

Anyone who gets behind a film (Lions Gate, Tarentino,Roth, etc.) re enact torture and snuff scenes in the shadow of Abu Grahib is a sick fuck. They are part of the problem. But are we that shocked? Tarentino has done way too much Ecstasy and has lost his mind. Plus the film is produced by Heidi Fleiss's brother... same guy that produced the tasteless Chainsaw remake which made a ton of money. Guess you will never go broke underestimating the taste of the public. As far as Cabin Fever goes... it seemed a bit run of the mill and predictable for me. And if you asked me to tell you what it was about...all I could remember is a bunch of kids get stuck in the woods and are on the run from some sick guys. The whole thing is such a blur.

3. I can "handle" just about any kind of movie violence except torture.
Even off-camera torture like in "Resevoir Dogs" and "Braveheart", which in some ways, is actually worse.

6. I have no problem when it services a legit. plot... i.e. Marathon Man.
Even then... I get squeamish.

4. I stumbled across the website today
It's based on true stories. Much like I'm 6'5" and play for the 49ers :eyes:

It's just an excuse to cut people up on camera. I'll pass. Same goes for Wolf Creek
