Cell Phone Assault Suspect

Criminal charges are filed, in a bizarre incident that left a Blue Springs woman hospitalized. 23 year old Marlon Brando Gill was charged yesterday with forcing a cell phone down his ex-girlfriend's throat last week. Gill is charged with felony first-degree assault. He has not yet been arrested.

It was first reported that the woman, Melinda Abell, swallowed the phone during an argument with her boyfriend. Court documents say Abell told detectives that Gill forced her from her house early Friday morning and made her go with him in his vehicle.

She says Gill began screaming at her and demanded her cell phone -- then grabbed her by the mouth and shoved the phone into her mouth until it became lodged in her throat. She underwent emergency surgery to remove it.
