Well, I am going to go format my hard drive
:grr:

I can't get rid of the evil spyware. I used spysweeper, spybot and adaware. :grr:

I am putting the writer of NokNok on notice that if I ever meet you...you may come to serious harm.

They keep repropagating...The partition which has my windows installation is full when it should have at least 5 GB. Something keeps expanding in there, and I can't stop it.

5. There's another way to do it...if you desire.
Well..there's several ways... 2 of them are:

1.Take your hard drive out, hook to another computer as a "Slave" and let the other computer Clean out the trash.
(some stuff is rough to get out if XP is operating..on YOUR drive).

2.Partition your drive, install XP on your new Partition..Clean your old Partition,Drag the files over from your old partition.

13. There is a little 2.5" hard drive to IDE adapter you can get.
Edited on Tue Dec-27-05 02:53 PM by ET Awful
They cost about $25 or so. If you were in Mass., I'd let you borrow the one I have at work.

20. Hey thanks for the offer
I was thinking I needed to format anyway...You know, start to run lean and mean again. This just expedited the planned format date if you know what I mean!

18. Be sure you have ALL your drivers backed up and ready to reload
Main-board, video, the works. I'm sure you are brighter then me, I've re-formatted for the same reasons, before I made sure I had my drivers backed-up on CD'S. Ouch!!!

19. Are you using WinXP? You may run in to a problem.

(I'm hoping you are still with us) ..... After you install WinXP on your newly formatted HDD you may have a problem getting updates. The MicroSlop website might tell you that you are using an invalid Product Key (license) because they will be assuming it is already assigned to the setup that you just deleted, not knowing you are the rightful owner and are reinstalling. You might have to get a human on the phone before you get the matter resolved. It can be a real PITA. Good luck and have patience.

21. I am still with you
I have had to restore this laptop using the recovery discs before. I never ran into a problem (never even had to type in the CD Key.)

I am hoping I do not have that problem.

22. A few months back MicroSlop got real hardass about pirated copies

of their software making the rounds about the net. So they started a program called "Genuine Advantage" to authenticate legally owned copies of Winblows. Read more about it here: http://arstechnica.com/journals/microsoft.ars/2005/7/26/814

Or Google "Genuine Advantage". It can be a real PITA to deal with even for legal owners.
