Full spectrum lights for SAD- love 'em or hate 'em?
If love: What brand did you buy- where did you get it? Has it helped? Is it worth the $$$?

If hate: I guess- same questions: How much did you spend? Do you think that it was worth it? Would you recommend them to someone else even if you didn't have a great experience?

I suffer from SAD....
but I use other therapy. The lights just didn't work for me. What about table top fountains? I have one in my living room and one in the hallway bathroom. Not loud but the flowing water helps me. Good luck

2. I used to buy them from the PCC in Seattle
I can't remember the brand though. They worked great for my SAD a few years ago when we had like 100 days straight of rain. Now I find bright lighting indoors a little too grating. I prefer dimmer light even if the months of gray here are horribly depressing. Now I just smoke a lot of weed and feel fine. :smoke:

3. You can get them from the craft store
The same company that makes lights for SAD suffers makes the same exact thing for light boxes for looking at photography slides and the like.

I've considered getting one too. I don't know that I have "official" SAD, but I do feel less energetic and down in the winter. Plus you know how dark my house is.

Hope you feel better, ncrainbowgrrl.

4. I buy the full-spectrum bulbs.
You can probably find them at Lowe's.

About a year ago, I switched all the bulbs over to "Reveal" (the blue ones), and my home is more pleasant. But my nightstand light, which I keep on all night, is a full-spectrum light.

5. Why not just use heavy curtains in Summer?
That way you can be SAD all year long.

6. Well, I bought a Verilux lamp this afternoon.
I figure it's worth a shot.

My cat is most definitely interested in why it's so light over in this corner of the room. He thinks that the sun is out!

Perhaps he's on to something here!

7. I have an Ultralux Floor Lamp
From Full Spectrum Solutions. I don't use it as often as I should, mostly because it's in my bedroom and I usually am only in there to sleep. I'm sure it would be helpful if only I'd use it as recommended.
