There is a guy selling bootleg DVD's where I work
Of new films, old films, and even films that have not even been released yet. I think it is unprofessional to sell anything in a work-setting, especially something illegal like this, but the higher-ups seem to be encouraging it by becoming his best customers. He has even apparently started selling porn. I don't give a fig what people do on their own time...I occasionally do things that are not totally ahem......but illegal DVD sales? God. I hate it so much. It is like fucking high school.

1. If you buy one of his pornos and send it to the company that
produced it, along with the guys name and address, I'm sure they would be grateful.

There is a big problem with boot-leg porn.

That sounds like a new niche market. Sort of a combination foot fetish / horsey play ?

6. Now you have that damn song on my mind...
damn you:P

It isn't the porn that bothers me. Not at all. It is the fact that the illegal activity of selling bootleg films is not only allowed, but seemingly encouraged. It makes me wonder what kind of illegal activities they would allow. This is a hostile working environment anyway, and these people are terribly unprofessional and rude. This is just one thing that I am amazed at since i started working there. And if I gave my co-worker an asprin, I would probably be fired over a bullshit "zero tolorance" policy. I don't think they are that strict, but there is an example.

8. You're welcome
I know the porn aspect doesn't bother you, but that doesn't mean it isn't actionable. :)

Or just call the cops on the bootlegger. Big media needs all the help it can get.

5. We had a guy doing that where I work.
Something happened though and he isn't doing it anymore. What got me was he was selling the dvd's for 10 bucks each! He was stealing them and "earning" 9 bucks a pop!

And, here is where you can contact someone.

The RIAA's anti-piracy unit coordinates the initial examination of product on behalf of the recording industry. If you wish to report suspected bootleg recordings, call RIAA at 1-800-BAD-BEAT and ask for the Customs Desk or e-mail us at services@grayzone.com.

I HATE bootleggers!

11. This is Democratic Underground. Please don't shill for fascists here...
And the RIAA are fascists, period. I have no problem with artists and even corporations getting due compensation for their work, and I do NOT endorse the copying of commercially available material, except for personal use.

But the Stalinist tactics of the RIAA do not deserve promotion on this website. And the day my computer gets a virus from a rootkit on a commercial CD, I will personally kick the ass of whatever suit fascist made the decision to include it.

14. I was not shill'in for the RIAA
just trying to give him a place to start. Bootlegging is stealing. I have way to many friends that are music artist that get really pissed when their WORK/ART is bootlegged or downloaded for free.

When will people realize that what they are doing when they download someone's music they are stealing.

Go buy the damn CD! From a reputable store!

15. It affects everyone.
I guess burning a CD from a friend does not bother you in the least. Great, let's say your worked your ass off on a report for the boss and someone stole it. My answer to you would be "get over it". It doesn't affect me.
