Memoirs of a Geisha - how different than the book?
My wife & I saw the movie today. I thought it was pretty good, but my wife had trouble understanding the accented English - but, English is not her native language. Zhang Ziyi really looks different with blue eyes. But, I wanted to know - how different is the movie from the book? (other than Chinese actresses playing Japanese parts...)

an Amazon review of Golden the author. Looks as though he wrote the story from an informed and educated position, not to mention actual interviews with the Geisha.

I must get the book. I spent three years in Japan early fifties. Have no knowledge of Geisha. I think they were off limits to such as me.

3. The book was incredible
I'm not sure if I'll see the movie or not. They usually botch the movie. That's why I won't see movie versions of my favorite books. Like "Remains of the Day."

5. I'm afraid to see the movie.
I really loved the book. It was one of those times when I rushed home from work so I could start reading again. Beautifully written.
