If you had no sense of cultural identity - and neither did anyone else
what would you create for your fellow people that look to you for guidance as to how to get through their days with some semblance of solidarity? Some kind of religion - voodoo - the unknown guides you - or something else?
tough question, I know.

5. Reason. Common sense.
Set up a system of tenets describing what acceptable interpersonal conduct is, and then after that....leave it up to everyone to enjoy themselves experiencing the wonder of being alive. Unlike most republicans, I believe in the innate goodness of all humans. Left to our own devices, and after education and soul searching, I believe that, with minimum regulation, humanity can govern itself.

Oh, yeah, and I'd abolish money too. Too hard to keep. Typical Pisces!

7. First hooray
Then take a deep look at your own soul - which is closely same as everybody elses sole. That's what I take as guidance now - Socratic daimonion, conscience, basic human feeling of empathy, take your pick - so nothing of importance would really change.

Not a toughie, IMHO.

8. Three principles
With a nod to Sun Yat Sen I would offer three principles.

1. Nationalism: to supersede the drive for globalism and overcome the provincial loyalties of sectionalism.

2. Democracy: to realize the self-governing processes by re-awakening individual’s pride in civic affairs.

3. People’s Well-Being: to improve the material standards of the ordinary man’s life while increasing the opportunity for a more satisfying life.

9. Throw out the television and smash up the computer.
This can allow any individual in rural America to reconnect with the cultural identity of the community. I was shocked last week when I was driving through Reidsville, Georgia to see some "Kucinich for President" signs on the road. These were the only campaign signs that I would see south of Macon. Once in Florida, it was just like being in Atlanta, I was surrounded by SUVs with Bush/Cheney bumper stickers and seeing signs that read...the Power of Pride.

But the break from American fascism was like a fresh breath of air. Once you suck it in, you must have more!
