Egads! My Friend Is Moving To Turkey (Internet Romance)
This does NOT sound smart to me but she feels she "knows" him (met him twice and communicate LD.) She's over 40 and has had a string of bad relationships -- does anybody know what the situation is on women's rights etc., when she gets there. It's not as bad as Iran or Afghanistan I know (where you are the husband's property) but wow....I dunno! I would just no way marry an internet person anyhow...

1. Oh no....That is frightening... Good luck to your friend. There's nothing
else you can do but hope if she has her heart set on it. :scared: A friend of mine was stationed there for two years about ten years ago and it wasn't bad at all, but still. Man that is scary.

3. I hear they have yummy coffee and good food
That's about all I know about that particular country. Wasn't that were the movie "Midnight Express" was set?? She better not leave her damn bags unattended is all I can say! And besides that -- she's my hair person, now I need to find a new colorist who won't charge me a fortune or make my hair too red.

4. My brother's girlfriend is an asthetician in that area. If you'd like
I can have her recommend someone. Let me know. :hi:

2. I don't know about the women's rights thing in Turkey
But I have known several couples who met via the Internet, and they're now married and very happy. They did get to know each other very well that way. I hope this works out for your friend.

5. Why can't he come here, and also, a friend's sister just married
someone she met on the internet, so it can work or not, just like any other relationship.

It seems so strange, moving to Turkey, but a whole bunch of people live there already and I'm sure some of them are happy (including this guy, apparently, since he doesn't want to come to America where we have.... BIG STUFF!).

Sometimes things seem nuts, but they're right. Time'll tell and all that. I hope she's one of the lucky ones.
