3. Packers/Bears (and yes, in that order)
I don't know if it's the greatest, but it most certainly is one of the oldest.

10. Cowboys and Indians
The Bears and the Packers?? Sure they are one of the oldest ( Redskins and Cardinals have played 117 times) but how often does that game mean anything any more???

It is clearly the Cowboys and the Redskins. I know that that game hasn't meant a whole lot over the last 10 years (yesterday's game was the first time both have been above .500 since '96) but aside from some lips service to the OLD NFL and the Bears/Packers etc. I think you won't find many people who think that Dallas and DC aren't the biggest rivalry in the NFL.

When we went on a band trip to DC in 1997, I was walking down the street wearing a grey and blue T-shirt with nothing on it. Some lady came up to me and asked me if I was a Cowboys fan.

12. Oh come on this is the lamest poll
I mean to not have the Cowboys-Eagles on there. Hell we threw snowballs at them at a football game. I once watched a group of Eagles fans overturn a porta-potty because someone with a Cowboys jersey went into it.

I mean that's the reason why during the NFL alignment they left Dallas in the eastern division even though Dallas is no where near the East Coast

46. The actions of Eagles fans are too indiscriminantly hostile to fall...
under the rubric of a rivalry. A rivalry is a particular hostilit towards another team. Eagles fans just demonstrate unbridled ill-will toward all, frequently against their own team.

13. Chargers - Raiders. Fans DIE at those games.
It gets really ugly in SD and up in Oaktown when these two AFL charter members lock horns. The teams hate each other and the fans hate each other.
The Charger fans sem to have a little more class.

62. Cowboys/Niners in the 90s was quite intense. They played in three straight
NFC Championship games. Cowboys won the first two and the Niners won the last. Both teams went on to win the Super Bowl.

There was almost a fourth straight matchup for the NFC title but the Packers beat the Niners. After the game the Niners congratulated the Packers and then implored them to beat the Cowboys in the NFC title game..They didn't and the Cowboys went on to beat the Steelers in the Super Bowl.

The Packers did win it all the next year.Thought that Packers team was going to win at least one more but it was one and out for them.A really talented team.

Edited on Mon Dec-19-05 06:51 PM by mohinoaklawnillinois
In January 1998 when they played Denver in the Super Bowl, I stayed up all night in Northern Ireland to watch the game. When it was finally over and the Broncos had beaten the "great" Brett Favre and the Slackers, our phone rang.

Two friends of mine from Chicago were on the phone and we laughed and laughed. That particular moment will always rate with me as one of the greatest in NFL history!!!!!

Still smiling thinking about it!! It was brilliant to see the "great Slackers" go down to defeat.

Yes Rev. Cheesehead there is a difference between cockiness and confidence and it was proven to me that night in January, 1998.

GO BEARS!!!!
