About King Kong: I need some help.
I want to take my family to see King Kong this week, after having read some wow! reviews. However, my brother-in-law and his girlfiend say the movie's not too good.

A movie costs us $50 after the tickets, small drinks and one bucket of popcorn. So I'm having second thoughts.

If you've seen the movie, what's your advice?

1. I thought it was great.
It was really, really long, but it had a great payoff on top of the Empire State Building in the end.

I went by myself. I imagine a big family might be less thrilled than I was.

2. Like all remakes, it's a big disappointment
Depends on how much you liked the original, really.

In this one, Kong is not so much a monster, as he is "Fay Wray's" big fuzzy buddy. There's an embarassingly lame "King Kong on Ice" segment....

If you have really small kids, they may be very unhappy during the giant bugs section...and you may feel the gore and corpses are unsuitable.

more than $3.50 :P

I'll wait for the DVD

9. Of course it is, but is it funny enough to warrant the money and rudeness
involved with seeing said monkey in a theater?

I'm not convinced :P

6. It's one of the finest movies I've ever seen
Effects, story, acting, even with some cheesy dialogue, make this movie really, truly, amazing. A word of warning: there are some scenes of extreme gore that freaked out most adults in the audience when we saw it. Don't bring little kids, or anyone with a serious insect/spider/worm phobia.

Go and enjoy yourself.

10. It's excellent, but LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNG
The effects and action pretty much BEG to be seen on the large screen. The final showdown on top of the Empire State Building is worth the trip alone. It's just phenomenal.

And overall, it IS a really good movie. But it still could easily use 30-45 minutes worth of editing. The kids will love it, but don't be surprised to find yourself looking at your watch more than a couple of times.
