Good Sunday Morning, Everybody!
:donut::hi:
How are you doing? I hope you've had a great weekend so far! The past two days have been hells on earth for me and that's why I didn't post yesterday. Greekspeak left for Missouri, got stranded at Kansas City International for a while and I was on the phone with him, Orbitz and Hertz and his family in Springfield until the early morning hours. It was complete disaster for a while and after it was all over with, I was completely exhausted.

Friday and Saturday were murderously busy at the store too, so that just compounded the problem. Usually I get up around 5 am...today, it was 8:15...and I NEVER sleep that late! So, even though the day is half gone already, here I am!

1. Good late morning, Clintmax!
I'm sorry to hear about the problems, and I really think you were in big need for this 'extra sleep.' I'm sure it gets better after it. :hi:

Even the next week will be somewhat busy for me, but then it's the holidays and calm days ahead. I'm sure you'll have these too.

I hope I have some calm days too. But the day after christmas starts the christmas clearance sale and we have to get immediately ready for inventory. Somehow I don't think it will calm down until after that. Tell Miss Heidi I said Hello!

It’s getting near dawn,
When lights close their tired eyes.

To give you my dawn surprise.

I’ll be with you when the stars start falling.

I’ve been waiting so long
To be where I’m going
In the sunshine of your love.

I’m with you my love,
The light’s shining through on you.
Yes, I’m with you my love,
It’s the morning and just we two.
I’ll stay with you darling now,
I’ll stay with you till my seas are dried up.

I’ve been waiting so long
I’ve been waiting so long
I’ve been waiting so long
To be where I’m going
In the sunshine of your love.

64. With you around I'll always have a smile on my face.
:) :pals:

Plus there is lots to make me happy. Radio3 is playing J.S. Bach 24-7 at the moment, they're going through his entire (extant) output, it started on Friday and will last until Christmas day (they're on the incomparable St. John Passion at the moment). Plus I downloaded a pretty gorgeous recording of his Christmas Oratorio for something ridculous like $5 (not sure what your prices are, but over here on double C.D. that would cost about £20 - getting on for $40). Also I've got new books (never a bad thing). I saw Narnia yesterday, and was very impressed with it. I'll be very interested to see if they move onto the other books in the series.

But on the other hand - I have to do some Christmas shopping this week. That always makes me irritated, I love the religion at Christmas, I love (within limits) the family, I love the food, I especially love the wine - but I despise the crass commercialism. I already know what the best present I'm getting in, and it's not commercial at all - I'd happily drop that entire side of things.

Was it full of Jesus-ey goodness like the fundies say it is?

Are you saying you downloaded ONE song for $5.00 or the whole CD?

I'm not shopping this year. So I can bypass all the craziness except when I'm at work and I have to help others with gifts THEY need to purchase.

67. I'm surprised at the fundies' response.
It was very accurate to Lewis. That does mean that there's a very hefty over-tone of Christianity, but it's in allegory (which the fundies usually hate, it goes beyond a simplistic view of anything), and it's not really the same Theological school as they. Plus it has an even bigger over-tone of Mediaevalism. Hey ho - what can one do - Lewis certainly sought to use his talents in the aid of Christianity (and was one of the greatest lay-Theologians of the 20-th century) - but it would be better to say that he situated his story within the context of a Christian world view, that said the Christ parallels are impossible to ignore.

I think that the fundies were merely pleased that there had not been an attempt to edit out the Christianity. Hollywood does like to remove religion, whether all references to the gods in "Troy", or the downplaying of Catholicism in "Brideshead Revisited" - but they were very faithful (pun intended) to the original here. If this is the case - I'd say it's more the old adage that even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

One can't really say whether it's one song or not. It is a single musical work (with several internal parts) - but given that it lasts for over 2 hours, it's not what immediately springs to mind when one says 'song'.
