Don't forget your avian friends this winter!
If at all possible, remember to place some supplemental food outdoors for our avian friends this winter! They appreciate it, and it makes for colorful activity around your home, and children enjoy the satisfaction of watching the benefits of the responsibility of helping out!

1. My bird feeders are the most popular restaurant in town for
my feathered clientele. Since many species from up north spend the winter here. These are nature's Canadian Snowbirds. :-)

4. Thanks for the great pictures. The black and white cat reminds
me of our late Felix and I like the crazy upside down squirrel and the beautiful cardinals.

5. Thanks for the pictures!
It always amazes me the way that the squirrels are able to contort themselves and solve the most complex solutions in order to achieve the ultimate goal...

3. Birds need water too. In the spring
the local birds you feed now will reward you by eating destuctive bugs and worms.

6. Absolutely!
As a landscaper, I am always attempting to convince my clientele to participate in feeding, yet it amazes me how many of them are more willing to contract out pesticide work in order to deal with 'pest' problems...

7. Thanks for the reminder!
I always have suet out in the winter, and hummingbird food for our resident hummy. This year I'll add some sunflower seed too.

11. Last weekend, my kids and I took Christmas cookie cutters
and cut out christmas shapes from bread. We dipped the bread shapes in egg whites and then coated them with bird seed. 15 minutes on 350 and you have little birdie Christmas treats. We strung them with pieces of chopped fruit and hung them in the trees in our back yard. Now we have tons of beautiful birds coming to visit us every day.

12. I have three ducks....
They get corn chops on the ground every morning. One is sitting on a nest in freezing weather right now. Can you believe that?

We are going to have ducklings in the winter...I had never heard of that before.

13. Oh, and just so you're aware
The ABA has no mention of Christmas in their holiday gift insert!

NONE!

Even though they sell "bird ornaments."
