Does anyone remember Hemo the Magnificent
That was such a cool film, and very educational.

Frank Capra produced it!

1. Yes--& it's available on DVD.
I think I only saw it once & remember it well. Always hoped it would be re-run.

Thanks to you, I checked Amazon!

I remember that one too - the people sitting on a turntable throwing a ball to each other as the turntable moved to demonstrate the coriolus effect.

Conquest, which played on Sunday afternoons. Think of it as an ancestor of Nova.

In the days before PBS, Sunday was the day for "educational" programming on the commercial networks. You got travelogues, classical music and opera performances, and science and other documentaries. Leonard Bernstein's famous "Young People's Concerts" were always on Sunday afternoon.

Sunday morning programs such as "Meet the Press" are survivors of this era.

Other episodes of Conquest that I remember are "The Strange Case of the Cosmic Rays" and "Our Mr. Sun." (Yes, that was really the title.)

ON EDIT: I just looked these up on Amazon, and they're on DVD, too!

It is such a fascinating little bit of a work.....very advanced for it's time!

7. Great film
I remember watching it in 5th grade. It was one of those films that older kids talked about so everybody knew you saw in 5th grade. Everytime the film projector was wheeled in there was a "ooooh" moment - is today the day sort of thing. The day my class watched it, the teacher showed it just before lunch and some of my friends couldn't eat because they were too grossed out from seeing blood. Me, I thought it was cool.

12. I loved that film!
I saw it a couple of times in sixth grade back in the late '50s. I, too, thought it was really well done. Frank Capra, how about that? Thanks, Witch, for the memories.
