I feel like it is my duty to explain my outburst the other night.
Monday night, I posted this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=4434591 which, now I feel like it would be a good thing to explain.

Our school has been violated, dishonored, and no longer he beautiful building it once was.

On Monday morning, I discovered what had happened.

A friend of mine dragged me out of the lunch room (Finding a fork for my lunch) and out into the common area. A few other kids were gathering around the gym. When I asked her what was up, she pointed towards the roof.

Someone had written graffiti all over my school. On the gym, around the music room, up on the top of the library. It was horrible.

But what really got me steamed was what I learned afterward.

The funds used to repair what was done will be taken out of our school field trips funds.

If I EVER find who did this...

Schools are underfunded enough as it is, so it really sucks when the funds they DO get have to go towards repairing vandalism.

2. The money should be taken out of the offender's pockets.
Or they should have to get up there and wash it off with a bucket and a mop or some other useful cleaning items.

Sorry to hear that happened. School should be a place that isn't attacked by vandals. Taxpayers put that money toward their children's education. Too bad they can't make the person responsible fix their mistake.

3. Speaking of school screwings
My niece told me today "free dress day" was cancelled this week at her middle school (they wear uniforms the other four days) because two kids got in a fight. And recently a dance was cancelled because somebody set off a stink bomb.

This "punish everyone for the mistakes of a few" bit is a horrible way to run any society.

BUT... my niece was to be part of a group of students presenting a list of grievances to the principal today. She was sick and didn't go to school, but, damn, I was proud of her. An activist in the making.
