6. Take care on the roads.

We have had gales howling for over 24 hours. Fortunately, some warm days earlier melted some of the powder we had and the slush left over froze hard before the winds came. East and west of us, not so lucky. Lots of dry powder and now 4-6 foot drifts. Emergency travel only. We are sort of an island at present.

Glad I don't have to go anywhere. Laid in supplies, good cheese, good wines, some new classical CDs and books. Tell your snow to hit me instead! ;)

we have freezing rain, sleet and what have you today. This am the roads were mostly wet, but it always freezes up here on the big hill I call home. So I put the car on the street, rather than in the garage, since the road by the garage is cobblestones, and always is a sheet of ice. So I hope the car won't be totally encased in ice when I go out the pick up the kid at school.

So I empathize. Just take your time and be safe, snow is better than freezing rain, that's for sure.

I once stayed at the Hershey Inn ? or something, for a conference. It was really nice. :hi:

18. I made reservations

at a Holiday Inn Express. It's supposed to be icy tonight, and I'm not going to feel up to driving 2 1/2 hours in it. I'm hoping somebody else on the gig will want to split the cost with me.

On the bright side, I'm playing with Mannheim Steamroller. It's a fun show! :hi:

I just got home after a really long messy drive to pick up the kid and not so bad a ride home. ( I know a few shortcuts) Husband is still stuck in traffic as of 5:15,even though he left at 3:40 poor guy. Hope you have a great gig! And treat yourself to room service after! :)

20. The ride up there was treacherous

I left an extra 2 hours so I could check in, shower, and grab a quick bite; but I barely made it in time for the start of the show. Fortunately, I found someone else to stay overnight, so the room only ended up costing $25.

Somebody else in the orchestra had bought a caseful of Victory beer, and gave us a few to help us get to sleep. I had a very hoppy Pilsner and a pretty nice Tripel style. We deserved them after that!

21. yeah he was tired

but it wasn't too bad. He just has little tolerance for the haphazard way that other people seem to drive! ;)

and today it went up to 40...and everything had melted. The weather has been so weird here. :shrug: It's almost like January weather.... we rarely have weather this cold and snowy so early in December.

22. I'm starting to think that SUVs

should come with special instructions that remind owners that their vehicles slip and slide on ice as much as anybody else's.

It is like January weather. I'm farid to find out what January will bring!
