DU; I HAVE A Proposal for the site; PLEASE READ & respond..(cross-posted)
I have already mentioned this to Skinner once; but did not post it to see how everyone else would feel Now is a good time for my idea because of benburch's dilemma here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph... .

Here's the idea: Every month we as a group vote on a "DU Liberal Website and Blog of the Month". Voting would be in the first 3/4 days of the month and then LINKS/BANNERS for the winners would be placed somewhere on the main pages of the site. This would encourage traffic to the sites (many run by members here such as benburch; etc.) and a better flow of information and communication throughout our liberal websphere. We scratch their back; they scratch ours kind of thing. Lots of sites and blogs that one person has found and posted (but for whatever reason the thread dropped like a stone) would be able to get their fair share of attention.Yes; I am suggesting that we vote for a website AND a blog; so 2 winners monthly. We could have a nomination thread to start the process.

I would appreciate all input and feedback about this; it's just a rough idea and needs refining. Go to it!

1. In theory it sounds good. However, how would we keep it from...
getting freeped?

3. Well in theory..
it shouldn't BE freeped here; but I know what you mean. I would assume that Skinner and the other mods would of course have final veto power and hopefully not only that but the threat of that would help a bit. As long as a one-vote-per-person thing is enforced (does the poll function already have this built in?)it should be ok. We could be really snotty and say that you have to have over a certain no. of posts to vote but I don't like that thinking and don't think Skinner would either.

4. Weird -- I replied to this and it didn't take. Oh well, I'll do it again.
If it makes sites known that would otherwise be unknown, I think that it's a good idea. I know that I personally have run across some sites that other people mentioned in their posts. It would be nice to have a better way to know about them.
