I consider him a pivotal "what if" in history, and one of my heroes. If he would have won the VP nomination in FDR's last term, he would have been president instead of Truman. This would have meant no cold war, no Vietnam, no Nixon, no J Edgar Hoover...history would have been VERY different. We would have been a much more socially motivated country, like Canada or Holland.

He was one of the chief designers of the New Deal as well....
