A FRACAS over a feline ended with a police officer getting part of his finger bitten off - by a woman who herself used to be an officer on the same department.
Pamela Greenlee, 40, who was an officer for a year in the mid-1980s, was arrested for "mayhem" and resisting an officer after she allegedly bit off the top of Officer Lemuel Johnson's right ring finger, department records show.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office is reviewing the case.
Surgeons tried unsuccessfully to reattach the severed digit. Johnson, 43, a 10-year veteran, remained in hospial, said Anne Schwartz, police department spokeswoman.
Police gave this account of what happened:
Shortly after noon Sunday, Johnson was called to Greenlee's house for a dispute over money. Greenlee breeds and sells Siamese cats.
Johnson tried to mediate. Things got heated and Greenlee elbowed Johnson, prompting the officer to announce she was under arrest. He went to handcuff her, but she fought, pulling him to the ground and then biting off part of his finger.
