I just took the Jung Personality Type test as part of a job hiring process
Edited on Mon Dec-12-05 02:08 PM by DS1
I know we've gone over our types almost as many times as we've had picture threads - but has anyone else taken this test to fulfill a request from an employer, and if so do you think it helped or hurt your chances?

1. I had to visit an "industrial psychologist" before I got this job...
Along with some aptitude tests (language, math, which-shapes-fit-into-this-shape, etc.), we got the "I sometimes hear voices...agree, disagree, neutral" test and then an interview.

In the interview, he started asking Meyers Briggs type questions, and finally I just jumped in and said I was an ENTP. He was annoyed that I cut him off.

I got the job.

3. Heh
I could see myself doing that - cutting them off and skipping the bullshit

20. I've never had to take any of those for a job
That would be really funny if I had. Ironic that they don't tend to give them to mental health people. ;)

2. Well, if they require you to take it, I would think
it has to help or hurt your chances. Otherwise, why take it? I have never had to do that, but I hope it works out for you!

5. Do they give any reason as to why you have to take it or
is it just part of it? Is it optional?

12. I'm always skeptical of quizzes where you are the one answering
questions about yourself. I'd be more interested in the results if someone else who knew me very well took it on my behalf

8. When I was still in school
I applied at one of those Rent to Own stores. What they gave me looked awfully close to a psych profile. But the one doing the interviewing was the store manager who rebuffed my statement that it was a psych test. He was just trained to know what answers to look for.

I also applied at a bank to be their custodian. They were quite demanding that I not tell anyone else about having to take a test like that.

You failed. You haven't got a personality.

17. It helped my chances more than it hurt.
But it raised suspections about the emproyer. Later, suspecions proven correct: control freaks who like to use people instead of utilize them. Found out they are surprised to learn that a good nature is NOT the same as being a doormat.

Joke's on them. I went on to live happily ever after.
