the cost of boycotting
A lot of people are boycotting Walgreens pharmacy because they allow individual pharmacists the right not to fill a prescription if it conflicts with their beliefs...

Unfortunately they are the only ones I know of close by with a 24 hour pharmacy. A friend of mine asked his partner to get a refill on his pain meds for his back yesterday afternoon and guess what- the pharmacy won't be open till monday morning. :banghead:

1. Saturday afternoon and no pharmacy is open? Sounds kinda fishy to me....
but if your more important priority is to have yor needs fulfilled at the drop of a hat, i'm guessing you're not going to be much of a boycotter anyway.

2. Yeah, he should wait over 36 hours for pain relief
What's a little pain and suffering anyway? :sarcasm:

4. Yeah a true liberal is willing to give up a couple nights sleep
due to severe back pain without making a big deal about it.

6. so ALL the pharmacies were closed on a Saturday afternoon?
or perhaps it was actually later and your friend was just lashing out, grasping at straws for who to blame?
Sorry they didn't notice when they were taking that last pill, but I don't know many people are going to give up their principles to make the world easier for your buddy. Especially when he uses them as a scapegoat. Forgive me if I'm as just as unsympathetic as your friend is.... bt if he was needing an abortion as a result of this, I would then be outraged.

3. The needs of the many vs the needs of the few.
I used to be gung-ho on boycotting and I'd get flamed to a crisp about "Ooooooooooooh, the underpaid workers will lose their jobs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

In other words it's more fun to whine than to do something about anything.

How very human.

(which is also why society took a turn for the worse since the late 1970s, if not early 80s)

5. Its better to boycott for yourself
and if you decide to boycott for someone else - by taking their prescription elsewhere - make sure that the person you are bringing into the situation knows about it and agrees with it and can live with the consequences.

7. wait, his partner wouldn't get the meds because only Walgreens was open?
