OK, the tree is up.
No lights, but I got the darned thing assembled.
(I use a fake tree because of allergies.)

Is anyone else slow in getting into the holiday spirit? And is it by choice, by circumstance, or are you boycotting Christmas?

7. Last year, it took me 6 weeks to take it down.
I figured, if I went to all that trouble, then I was going to enjoy it.

Your way makes more sense.

13. When my kids were little,
I went all out. Now that they are grown and never home, what's the point? I'll pick up on it again once we have grandkids.

2. My dear Rev......
Where in God's good name is the PIC?

I use an artificial tree also....I hate like anything to see the natural trees cut down......

I am definitely slow this year getting into the holiday spirit.....

Still need to do a LOT of shopping.....

But, since my daughters are coming on Christmas Day to eat with us....

I WILL get the tree up and decorated.....AND the presents bought and wrapped!

:loveya:

4. Ah, yes...
Well, the only camera around here is on my new cell phone... and I still haven't had time to program the darned thing.

I don't want Christmas to slip by, but it's beginning to feel as if it is... too many obligations and commitments.

Aw, hell, who am i kidding? Too much DU. :P

34. I hate to see the trees cut down too.
I mean, I know they are beautiful and all, but can't they just plant one in the yard and leaving it alive and decorate it? Michigan Bulb Company sells the Colorado Blue Spruce trees for like a dollar. Just have to wait a few years to let it grow. Or use a pine or even a Leyland Cypress. The Leyland grows so fast, it would be ready by the next Christmas. Problem solved.

10. Glad you got your tree up Rev!
I'm working on mine - the tree & the ornaments were sent to me by a wonderful DUer who wants to help me be of good cheer! Hehe, one of the ornaments is a beer mug! :toast: (All I had was lost when the wind blew & the poopoo flew.)

I do have a dilemma - the tree is rather big and my femansion rather small. What to do? :freak:

But I am going to make it work and I am making this femansion festive, thanks to btmlndfrmr.

I'm also going to decorate the outside of my femansion with lights and a wreath on the front of it. I'm not letting Katrina have my Christmas (or the evil weed family and their evil sidekicks).

I shall have Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas - despite the hell and high water.

So I am not slow in getting in the spirit -- I'm making the most of the generous gifts and enjoying the challenge size of tree versus size of trailer has presented me. Christmas music has been playing all day at my place.

Merry Christmas! :loveya:

I love the way you keep your spirits up, Merh. In spite of it all, you have a love for life, and bring beauty into so many people's lives. It's only fair that you should have some for yourself.

I don't do that much to to bring the beauty into other's lives, though I thank you for saying so. I am the one that is blessed and have been given so much beauty by so many, like you, who have supported, encouraged and loved me.

I am so damn lucky and so grateful for DU and so many DUers. :grouphug: :loveya:

and a small table top tree tonight. That's enough for me. I just don't feel like trying to make room for the big tree this year.

16. That's what Mom & Dad have...
and somehow, I suspect that I'll be hauling it out for them tomorrow night. At least, it's more fun to decorate when there are others around.

The cats only go for the finished project, when they can sit beneath the tree, undisturbed. I was also a good cat mom - I put the tree up by the heater, so they can enjoy both the tree and the warmth. :)

would grab at the shiny balls or garland. But yours sound like they're well behaved. That sounds like a nice picture. Cats underneath the tree. :)

19. Assembled?
Allergies- Smallergies) Whhaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

I feel like that a-hole elf on Rudolf... I guess you can say I'm astounded. WHY would you have a fake tree? Those things cost over a 100 dollars! Who can afford that? I know it takes a little elbow grease, but it's worth cutting one down. Costs nothing (or 15 bucks if you have no land) and your house smells great too!

Just kidding. If you have allergies, I understand. What I don't get is why people buy that fake stuff for no reason! :-)

Around here, the churches have to use fake stuff, because of fire codes.

20. I haven't hung one light.
I used to decorate the house, yard and an inside tree.
I've got ornaments dating back to my first New York Christmas way back in 1969.
These days, it seems like I'm the only one who enjoys my decorating.
Sigh So I'm not decorating this year or not much, I don't know which one yet.

23. Sometimes, it's just a matter of what my mood is.
Right now, family stuff is taking priority, so I'm not too worried if I don't have the stuff up. But then again, sometimes I need to make sure I am caring for my inner child, too. :)

27. I'm a "Toys-R-Us" kid.
I refuse to grow up.
(I do think that's one of the reasons why I'm so good with kids at church - I can relate to them as people... sometimes, even peers.)

I also try to make sure that other people in my life are carrying their share of the responsibility load. No freeloaders - I don't have the time or the patience.

It seems that all I really did need to know was in Kindergarten. :)

32. I was never a child when I was young.
I'm sure that's why I've consciously returned to my youth as an adult, I never had the chance to play with my peers as a child.

I've decided that I'm never gonna grow old.
I take care of the homestead, then I go out and play!

I love my Blue & Gold Macaw. She is a wonderful traveling companion if I'm on 4 wheels.

I have my trike for warm weather. In 2006 I'm planning rides to visit: Sugar Smack in NC, WC & Mrs. Green in Ohio and Mr. & Mrs. Redstone. The list may grow.

29. I don't know what is wrong with me today.
Edited on Sun Dec-11-05 02:05 AM by Jamastiene
I woke up at like 5:40 p.m. after playing this new online rpg I found named Adventure Quest. I had a headache. My eyes were caked up. My nose was stopped up. My muscles hurt like crazy. I had to pee something fierce. My cat was laying on the sleeping back in such a way that I hurt something in my shoulder when I tried to straighten out the bottom so I could get back inside the thing. I was laying on the zipper, so I had zipper marks all over my legs and arms. You know how you can get pillow crease marks on your face? Well, I had zipper crease whelps all up and down my legs and arms. Yogi, my cat, actually looked shocked when I moved the sleeping bag with him on it. He stretched and turned his head upside down ready for some more deep sleep.

My aunt said she dropped some stuff in the kitchen loud enough to wake the dead earlier. It didn't wake me up. She also said that the cats were growling and grumbling at each other for dibs on the foot of my sleeping bag for naps. Sunday Girl slept with me apparently most of the day and then like a little brother, Yogi pestered her and she growled and grumbled and got down. He then slept with me for a few hours before I woke up. I think I slept 12 hours straight without so much as a peak. I can't remember having quite that much fun playing that game. It was okay, but nothing special. I certainly don't know why I woke up feeling so bad today or why I slept so long.

As far as holiday spirit goes, I watched Rudolph and I wished for one of those pretty fiber optic 12" tall trees. Don't think it's in the cards though financially. I have a dentist appt. Monday and my High Blood Pressure medicine is running low. Will have to fill the prescription Monday.

Instead, I help my parents put up their ancient fake tree, then go visit it (and them!) after it is decorated.
