I know she really loves me, but DAYUM she hurt me tonight
It's my pleasure to walk my sister's three year old Chocolate Lab, Lady, in the afternoons and evenings. She's a beautiful creature, and she has enough life and sheer joy inside her for a dozen doggies.

She's also as strong as a horse- I don't "walk" her, I'm just the dead weight on the end of her leash, and she takes great pride in straining against me with all her might. Well, this evening she pulled a bit too hard and I stepped the wrong way off a higher than usual curb, jarring a painfully arthritic knee with all my 240 pounds of weight. After hobbling home I put my feet up and popped a pain pill, but it hasn't helped- my knee is swelling and I don't know if I'll be walking at all tomorrow.

Anybody wanna volunteer for walkies tomorrow while I sit and whine?

1. Those are the types of dogs you want to
buy a bigger dog who is super calm (translated lazy) and tie them to each other. That reminds me of a story my aunt is always telling me about a miniature pincer and his son. The min pin would actually walk his son on a leash. Yes, one dog walking another dog on the leash. I wish she had some video, but back then they didn't have personal camcorders and such.

2. May I suggest...

...one of these:

And here is some more info about it:

I've seen these things work miracles. I used one on my Mom's dog... omg, it was the difference between night and day. The hardest part is just getting them to accept it at first. It took me about five minutes with Mom's dog. I just kept up a constant barrage of praise every second she wasn't fighting it, and gave a gentle scolding ("no, no, no") when she pawed at it or tried to shake it off.

Very much worth a try.

Good luck.

3. Look into an obedience class.
Labs are notorious for loving obedience classes. She not only won't hurt you anymore, but will become a good friend.
