How much money do you spend on christmas gifts?
Every year we have given our son whatever he has asked for. This year he has asked for a $300 iPod(The new model,he already has last years model) and a $400 x-box 360. We just can not afford it. Also we have 12 nieces and nephews we always buy for and our parents. We told our siblings we weren't buying for anyone this year. My brother in-law said "do you even want us to still come over?". We are sick of this .We just want to enjoy being together. Any suggestions?

1. You could do what I did last year...
...I gave family gifts from World Vision.

Bought two shares in a fish farm and two sets of four harvest packs.

They don't sell the shares in the fish farm anymore, unfortunately, but here's a description of the Harvest Packs..

A single Harvest Pack includes everything a farmer needs. Varieties of drought-resistant seeds in the Harvest Pack can produce enough vitamin-rich vegetables, legumes and grains to feed an entire family. And each kit is equipped with sturdy tools. World Vision also provides training to ensure bountiful crops for years to come. And thanks to Canadian corporations, your gift today will provide 4 Harvest Packs for the price of one! $35 provides $140 worth of Harvest Packs for 4 families!

We bought some chickens and some roosters this year.

2. I only buy holiday gifts
Not much. We enjoy getting together, being together, not getting things, though we do enjoy giving things but not being made to give at any particular time (like Dec 25).
