I still have my nephew's cats
He dropped them off a week ago last Wednesday. They were only supposed to be here until the following weekend. Well, it's the NEXT weekend. Now, I love cats. But I can't get hold of him, and his mother (my sister) has no idea where he is. The thing is, if he wants me to keep the cats, no problem. But I don't want to bond with the kitties, and then have him show up and reclaim them. So, I figure, if he doesn't get in touch with me and/or show up this weekend... THEY'RE MINE! What does the DU Lounge cat fanciers think?

1. I agree completely...
Consider them abandoned after almost 3 weeks, so keep and take care of them, and love them, I would do the same thing.

5. Well, we didn't really agree on a certain date
I just said, you're picking them up when you move into the new place this weekend, right? Which would have been last weekend. OTOH, I did get in touch w/him last Sat. a.m. at the place he was staying and told him there was no food and please drop by with food. He didn't show up, so on Sunday, I cooked up a chicken breast for the babies. When I came home on Monday, there was a large bag of litter, a scoop and food left for me. No note. I've called the last number that I could contact him on, but no answer. Personally, I think he's abandoned them. Course, they both need to be spaded - another expense I don't need. Sigh... kids nowadays.

3. If he hasn't called in to check up on then,
my guess is HE hasn't bonded with them and that they, by rights, are now yours. Congrats!

6. The best part?
If he does come back for them, I've got them addicted to "Whiskas Temptations". Bwwaaahhhaaa!

7. this happened to my brother
he took in a coworker's son's cat "for a couple" weeks (the mom was allergic) and it extended to a couple years. When he finally came back for Shadow my brother told him, "She is mine now".

8. Excuse me
Does worrying about your nephew take precedence over keeping the cats?
