Has anyone ever stolen your cart at a store?
My local Target has a problem with its employees and getting carts back to the store in a timely manner, and the last FOUR times I've been to the store someone has stolen my cart. The first two times, it was simply gone, but the third time I caught a woman taking my stuff out of the cart and throwing it on the floor. She had no explanation.

The fourth time, I overheard a woman say "Whose cart is this?" from about 40 feet away, and she was pushing my now empty cart towards the toys section by the time I caught up to her. When I asked her what the hell she thought she was doing, she moaned, "They didn't have any at the front of the store."

Like that makes it OK! I fully believe that if I wasn't already pissed off she would have fought me for it.

Does this happen to any other DU'ers?

7. Never had it happen to me either.
I do, however, steal other people's carts all of the time.

;)

2. It happens to me ALL the time!
Gods it pisses me off too!

If you want to find a cart...look in the row of handicapped parking spaces. They are all there :grr:

3. All the time at Costco
I put a few things in it that I don't want. If I leave an empty cart to look at the books, then it won't be there when I get back. I've never had one taken that has stuff in it, though. That's weird.

5. No, that's the Potomac Yards Target in Alexandria, VA
I've never had one taken that has stuff in it, though. That's weird.

Do you hear me, bastard Target Store? Do you hear me, Target national chain?

(probably not)

I have sent a letter complaining about the shortage of carts at their store. It seems to me this should be one thing they are on top of.

4. I did it one time...
I was sent to the market and lost the damn shopping list on the way, so I just took an unguarded cart that was full of stuff that looked like the kind of stuff we use. ;)

6. Today I was at the store
and some LESBIAN started to take my cart and I called her on it! I told her exactly what I thought of her and her Sapphic cart-thievery!

She'll never be doing THAT again I can assure you!

:grr:

8. Not exactly sure if this is "tongue in cheek"
Or if you think my post was unfair to gay women.

My cart was stolen, repeatedly. I don't have any prior experience with this. The two times I caught the culprit, they were women. No idea of eithers' sexual orientation, nor did I mention S.O. in my post.

The two times I didn't catch the culprit, they could have been men. Either way, the last culprit's explanation "they didn't have any at the front of the store" is still stupid. I could use the same logic to get a 50 inch plasma from BestBuy because "I don't have any in my family room."

11. Happened to me once at Costco
I went back to where I had left my cart and all my stuff was on the floor! Next time I go, I'm staging a stake-out.

13. Sort of...
Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 02:58 AM by njdemocrat106
I was only about 8 years old when it happened, but I was with my mom when she went shopping at Jamesway (a defunct discount department store in the vein of K-Mart), and she went to return something at the courtesy counter. We already selected our cart, and I was sort of leaning on it while my mom did her business involving the return. A few minutes later, two old ladies just suddenly walked up to the cart, oblivious to my leaning on it, and started walking away with it, without saying a word to either me or my mother (they were talking amongst themselves). My mom just let it be and got a new cart. Even though the cart was empty, I think I was about a billion times more angry than she was.
